Research Affiliates and Herbarium Fellows


Eugenio Santiago – Professor of Botany at UPR-Río Piedras and Director of the Herbarium of the Botanical Garden of the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) works on plant systematics and conservation, Caribbean biogeography and botanical history.

Jeanine Vélez – Collection and Database Manager of the Herbarium of the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez Campus (MAPR) provides periodic assistance with the herbarium database.

Raymond L. Tremblay – Professor, orchidiologist, conservationist, evolutionary biologist, and biostatistician of the UPR Humacao campus and member of the UPR-Río Piedras graduate program.

Elvia Meléndez-Ackerman – Professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences of UPR-Río Piedras works on urban ecology, invasive species biology and biodiversity of Mona Island.

Jaime Pagán – Anthropologist and paleoethnobotanist, currently working in Leiden (Netherlands), has particular interests in using fossil starch grains to unravel the complexities of native Antillean and Andean cultures.

Roger Graveson – Floristic botanist and resident of the island of St. Lucia.
